Happy Prepday to Me

I racked up another digit on the personal odometer recently. Not really having anything on my list, I thought that if someone asked what I wanted I would suggest some sort of prep supply items. Since my family already thinks Im nuts, I disguised my requests under the guise of something more acceptable. So I got some heavy duty tomato cages, some re-usable seed starters (mini-greenhouse type), and some other gardening items. I am going to expand the garden to 2x my regular size this year so these things should come in handy.

Oh yeah, and I picked up this for myself:

Congratulations on an eminently practical purchase. Now go buy a 33 round happy stick for it! :ARMS1:

I can't tell, I'm not a Glock guy, even though I should be, but what Caliber is that? Nice pistol btw.

Nice 9mm. I've been thinking of picking one up myself. They are slightly less expensive to shoot than my G36 and G30.

I lol'd at the thread title..

Nice- I'm about to pick up a G21 myself.

I never thought I'd be a Glock guy - till I tried it.

Thanks. It's a 9mm. My first criteria was what caliber and I went w/ 9mm because its fairly and common and ammo is cheap and plentiful (at least for now). I'm also still hoping to get my hands on my Grandfather's 1911 which is part of the reason that I chose 9mm vs .45.

Personally I'm not really a "Glock guy" either (although maybe owning one makes me one now). I looked at everything in 9mm semi-auto and narrowed down my choices to the XD, M&P, and Glock. Price was a factor so H&K and Sig didn't make the cut.

The Glock didn't have the best ergonomics (XD & M&P were better). It didn't have the external safeties I am used to. The Glock isn't the highest capacity, and it shot no better than the M&P (by me at least). Reliability seems about the same for all three from what I have read. I shot them all and in the end I almost went with the M&P, but what the Glock 19 does have that swayed me were 2 things:

1) The size. The M&P full size is a little too large to be concealed and the compact M&P is too small for my comfort. As with everything, there are tradeoffs and if I am going to only have one handgun for now, this seems to me to be the best compromise in size.

and

2) Glocks are everywhere. Not only that, but the Glock 19 is their most popular model. There are a ton of aftermarket and manufacturer parts and accessories available for them and many models share the same parts. This should provide an advantage when SHTF if I need to source parts. This parts availability and interchangability is probably only exceeded by the 1911 (not trying to re-hash that thread here please).

OH NO, NOT ANOTHER EVIL PLASTIC GLOCK!!

Looks good.

We just picked up a gently used Presto pressure cooker (the wife TRADED some stuff we don't use any more for it - YEA!!). We had a great roast dinner Sunday. I've had hot roast beef sandwiches two days running as lunch. I just finished my first GOOD batch of pinto beans. The first batch was cooked in a normal pot and didn't taste right. THIS TIME they taste great.

Tonite is beans, rice and roast beef. I might even rustle up a batch of jalapeno cornbread. Or take on making a batch of home made tortillas... MMMM, dems good eats...

I hope you've held/fired a Glock 21 before buying it. I've got reasonable sized hands (IMHO), but the grip of the G21 is just too large in diameter. I could shoot it well enough, but it never felt "right" (compared to my G23). Yes, I could have done a grip reduction myself, or sent it away for the surgery, but didn't want to go through the hassle. I ended up selling it to a friend.

Well - you do have a point there.

I've got a G30 and it's fine. I shoot well with it.
I've actually got smaller meathooks and I haven't ever been able to figure what's all the fuss about when it comes to Glock grips.

I assumed that the grip would only be longer - not bigger around. - G30 takes G21 mags after all.

I was going to pick it up on a FTF deal today - somebody sniped me.
I called the seller and he said he was delivering to another buyer at that moment...

Suppose I should go to the store and feel one up real good to be sure before I come across another one.
